Overview​

Cape is a privacy-first mobile carrier and telecommunications provider that offers secure, nationwide 4G and 5G cellular service with built-in privacy and security features designed to minimise data collection and protect users from tracking, SIM-swap attacks, and other threats. It launched an open beta with Proton in March 2025 and reached general availability in January 2026.​

Key Technology Insights​

Phones broadcast identifiers like IMSI, IMEI and ad ID that let networks track them. Cape runs its own mobile core and rotates these identifiers to disrupt tracking, without a reboot or airplane mode's detectable detach. IMSI rotation is live for consumers; simultaneous multi-identifier rotation and managed personas form the defence tier.​

Industry Application​

Cape's most mature use is privacy protection for consumers, executives and journalists, with identifier rotation live nationwide. The defence tier targets covert mobility and undercover law enforcement. Cape is also investigating unattributed connectivity for unmanned drones. ​

Strategic Perspective​

Cape rebuilds privacy at the network layer rather than through apps, owning its mobile core and offering a unique set of features to protect users from surveillance and identity theft. In growth stage with consumer service live and a defence tier maturing, its advantage is control. As tracking concerns rise, network-layer privacy could become expected.
