Gamiel Gran
Gamiel Gran is the Chief Commercial Officer and operating partner at Mayfield.
Gamiel presented a comprehensive view of how artificial intelligence is reshaping the technology landscape, arguing that the entire stack is being rebuilt around a new five-layer "cognitive platform" that is redirecting an estimated $6 trillion of annual spend. The deepest investment, he noted, is concentrated in infrastructure, where companies are committing to $100M–$1B purchase orders with hyperscalers, and where the binding constraints ahead are power and memory rather than GPUs.
Turning to enterprise software, he characterised the current moment as a "SaaS apocalypse." CIOs are abandoning multi-year vendor commitments and demanding genuinely AI-native solutions, and he expects more than half of today's SaaS companies to struggle through the transition.
His central guidance for IT leaders was twofold: prioritise an orchestration layer capable of governing the full agent lifecycle and invest in context engineering so AI can unlock the decades of value trapped within legacy systems. He cited Coinbase and Meta as examples of organisations already restructuring radically around agentic workflows.
